Annual General Meeting MINUTES OF THE MEETING
Mr. Taj Vitales presented his latest research about Melo Shells in Philippine archaeology and their distribution and significance.
8.1 The Board of Directors proceeded to elect the new set of officers for the year 2009 to 2010. The new set of officers are:
8.2 Dr. Paz proposed that the Foundation give a formal letter of gratitude to Dr. and Mrs. Solheim for their turnover of the Kalitang property to the Foundation. He also proposed that as part of administering the Kalitang property, the Foundation should immediately release funds to pay for the back salary of the property's caretaker. The back pay consists of PhP 2000.00 per month for the past three months, for a total of PhP 6000.00. Mr. Galang added that the Board should do everything in its power to ensure that these monthly dues are met on a monthly basis. Finally, Dr. Paz proposed a motion to formalize giving the Board of Directors the power to administer and make decisions about the property. These motions were seconded by Mr. Neri. 8.3 Mrs. Valdes also proposed that the Foundation undertake an inventory of the items in Kalitang, particularly Dr. Solheim's Library and other materials pertinent to Philippine archaeology. A visit by Board Members to the property is envisioned during the summer months for this purpose, as well as to assess the physical conditions of the house and surrounding land that makes up the property. 8.4 Mrs. Valdes reiterated the need to secure the status of the Foundation with the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Bureau of Internal Revenue by filling up a General Information Sheet and filing the pertinent financial statement of the Foundation. She also reminded the secretary to create a new Secretary's Certificate with the names and positions of the new set of officers. 8.5 Other matters arising from the Election of Members of the Board of Directors: l The number of members for the Board of Directors based on the By-Laws is nine (9). l Members in good standing may also be elected in absentia l The status of members who are also employed by the National Museum is still unclear and must be resolved in future meetings of the Executive Board.

MINUTES OF THE MEETING: The meeting was called
into order by the President, Dr. A. Pawlik at 13:20H. The attendees were: a) Dr. Wilhelm G. Solheim II b) Dr. William Longacre c) Dr. Jack Medrana d) Prof. Lee Neri e) Dr. Alfred Pawlik
f) Dr. Victor Paz
Minutes of the meeting recorded by Dr. J.G.L. Medrana The agenda of the Board Meeting are as follows:
1. Reading of the minutes of the last board meeting The minutes of the last board meeting were not read because all copies of the minutes were with Ms. Aya Ragragio, who recorded this but unfortunately was not present in today’s meeting because she has been out of the country.
The President requested an update of this issue as he was out of the country for some time. Dr. Solheim said that there is a 10% tax on the property, and that Php 120,000.00 should be paid for transfer (preferably directly) to the Foundation. Dr. Solheim added that the sellers of the property could not be found so they called in the police to look for them. Dr. Paz replied that the owners are in touch with Mrs. Nene Solheim, but in order for the transfer to proceed, the payment should be done. He asked Dr. Solheim if there are no problems with Mrs. Nene Solheim regarding the transfer of the property to the Solheim Foundation. Dr. Solheim answered that Mrs. Solheim did not disagree when he suggested to her that the transfer be made directly to the Foundation. This property is not yet titled according to Dr. Paz, but Dr. Solheim said that he has a copy of the Absolute Deed of Sale. Dr. Paz told the group that the owners of the property might not have secured a title yet because this is originally land for homesteads. He suggested that Dr. Solheim write a letter to the Foundation telling the Foundation to take over the property and to pay the required amount to execute the transfer, with the signatures of Dr. and Mrs. Solheim on this document. The group agreed on this plan.
As of August 26, 2008, the SF treasurer, Prof. Leee Neri, reported that the bank assets of the Foundation are as follows: Total Checking Account = Php 23,715.52 Total Dollar Account = USD 2,444.04 There was no update on the annual membership dues as the membership list should still be reviewed.
Prof. Neri said that the SF should submit the requirements asked by the SEC before the BIR documents of the SF can be approved. Dr. Paz added that Ms. Ragragio could be contacted through electronic mail so that the list of requirements could be known by the Board.
Dr. Solheim mentioned that Dr. Cynthia Neri Zayas could give an article
on fish trap research for the SF publication. Meeting was adjourned at 1400H. ***********

Alfred F. Pawlik *************** 17 January 2008 From: Alfred F. Pawlik Dear Members and Friends of the Solheim Foundation, I hope the year 2008 began happy and successful for you. As it seems, it will be full of activities and events. However, with regards to the Annual General Meeting of the Solheim Foundation, that was originally set to take place on January 26, I have to inform you that the Board of Directors has decided to move the AGM to Saturday, March 1. This is due to various urgent commitments of Board members and the absence of our Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Wilhelm G. Solheim II, who is scheduled to travel to the U.S. soon. We will soon send out the invitations including the program of our AGM. My apologies for this inconvenience. Best wishes, *********** 24 December 2007 From: Alfred F. Pawlik Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Dear Members and Friends of the Solheim Foundation, The year 2007 is fast coming to a close. It has been a very busy year and a lot has been achieved in Philippine Archaeology. The excavation of Ille Cave and neighboring sites, and the post-processing of all findings and data has brought up a lot of new and exciting information to the early history of the people of Palawan. In Penablanca, the prehistoric site of Callao Cave have been excavated by Dr. Mijares who was able to direct date its occupation back to 25,000 years ago, by far the oldest data for the Penablanca area. The Archaeological Studies Program's fieldwork and research in Cagayan de Oro has received a lot of attention. Philippine Archaeology plays now a lead role in the international Human Origin Patrimony in Southeast Asia network HOPsea. Almost the entire faculty of the Archaeological Studies Program as well as leading staff from the National Museum including Director Corazon Alvina were present at the recent HOPsea conference in Paris. The venue took place at the National Museum of Natural History and the Institute of Human Palaeontology. It was a big meeting of old and new friends and colleagues from all over the world. This network is expanding very fast and offers a lot of opportunities for studying and researching. It was good to see that the Archaeological Studies Program has been given a big recognition as a leading international teaching and research facility and a role model for the development of other archaeological institutions in the region. Because of the many commitments of our Board members, it was not easy to assemble for another board meeting. We just managed to meet before the departure of some members to Paris. During the meeting we agreed to hold the Annual General Meeting of the Foundation on the 26th of January, a Saturday. Notifications have been sent to our members via email. However, several messages returned as undeliverable. I would therefore ask everyone who has not received our notification, yet to update the Board with the current email address. The venue will be announced shortly. Please visit our website and this message board for further announcements. On behalf of the Solheim Foundation, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Successful New Year! Best wishes,
20. July 2007 From: Alfred F. Pawlik Bulletin of the Solheim Foundation Released! Dear
Members and Friends of the Solheim Foundation, ********** 14 April 2007 From: Cynthia O. Valdes Report on the Symposium on Chinese Export Trade Ceramics in Southeast Asia A most interesting symposium was held in Singapore from the 12th to the 14th of March 2007. It was organized by the Asia Research Institute of the National University of Singapore. This event was well attended by archaeologists as well as ceramic scholars from China and Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Japan, Europe, and the United States. The symposium addressed three main areas of current interest. These are: Maritime Archaeology: shipwrecks in the last several decades have been important sources of information. They have added much to our knowledge of the early commerce between China as a ceramic production center and Southeast Asia as end market and consumers of these ceramics which we have come to call “tradewares” or “trade ceramics”. In the past several decades, Chinese archaeologists, with government support, have unearthed much new information about the production of ceramics in kilns and kiln complexes which proliferated in the southern (Hunan, Jiangxi); southeastern coast (Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian); central (Zhejiang, Jiangsu); as well as production centers in northern (north of the Yangtze River) kilns such as Henan, Hebei and environs. These kilns and complex of kilns that produced tradewares were in operation from the 9th to the 17th centuries when the trade between China and Southeast Asia were at its peak. The proceedings began at 8:30 a.m. with an introductory meeting attended by the various speakers with welcome remarks by Prof. Anthony Reid, Director of the Asia Research Institute. Prof. John Miksic of the Southeast Asian Studies Programme, National University of Singapore asked each participating speaker to introduce himself/herself. After a brief tea break, the first set of speakers began. Speakers delivered their talks both in English and Chinese. The proceedings took place at the main lecture room of the National Library Board. It was only a brief walk across the street from the Allson Hotel on Victoria Street where the speakers were billeted and therefore quite convenient. On the first day, after two speakers from China, I was introduced as an “Independent Scholar from the Philippines and Immediate Past President of the Solheim Foundation”. My talk (on powerpoint) was on “Tang Ceramics Found in the Philippines”. (I will provide a copy of this talk for our SF website through Dr. Alfred Pawlik, the new President of the Foundation). I was one of three speakers from the Philippines, the other two being Bobby Orillaneda from the Underwater Archaeology Section of the National Museum and the other Rita C. Tan representing Kaisa Heritage Centre. Other delegates from the Philippines who attended were John Forbes, Werner and Pinky Troesch of the Oriental Ceramic Society of the Philippines. I was happy to see old friends and familiar faces such as Dr. Roxanna Brown of the Southeast Asian Ceramics Museum and Bangkok University, Dr. Carla Sinopoli of the Anthropology Museum of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Dr. John Guy of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Dr. Michael Flecker of Maritime Explorations, Singapore, Asako Morimoto of the Fukuoka City Archaeological Service, Japan, Dr. Edwards McKinnon, Independent Researcher from Indonesia, Naniek Harkantiningsih of the Arkeologi Nasional in Indonesia. I have long admired the work of Marie-France Dupoisat of Paris, France and I had the pleasure of meeting her at the Symposium. It was also good to be able to meet up with Prof. John Miksic again after the Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association (IPPA) Conference held in March 2006 in Manila last year. Last but not least, I was happy to see an old friend, Dr. Kenson Kwok, Director of the Asian Civilizations Museum. Unfortunately, our visit to the Museum was all too brief and there was hardly time to get re-acquainted. The Asian Civilizations Museum is now on No. 1 Empress Place. It is quite large and impressive. I saw the Blanc de Chine collection donated by Pamela Hickley and I thank Dr. Kenson for the beautiful book he gave me. I remembered previous trips to Singapore when we were welcomed by the Southeast Asian Ceramic Society, a most friendly and active group. We heard very sad and disconcerting news about the illness of Lise Younglai. She and her husband were quite active members of the SEACS and facilitated our trip to Singapore some 14-15 years ago. I was so impressed with their efficiency and teamwork that I recommended Singapore to Dr. Chuimei Ho and Dr. Ben Bronson of the Field Museum of Natural History and Asian Ceramics Research Organization (ACRO) as a venue for the Fujian Conference. This was some 11 to 12 years ago. I was delighted to be able to meet up with Pamela Watkins (who was a member of the Singapore Symposium Organizing Committee). She is Canadian. Her husband still works in Jakarta and they now commute between Singapore and Jakarta. We were both members of the Indonesian Heritage Society some 11 to 12 years ago. I stayed in Jakarta for an entire year and was part of the Ceramic Study Group of the IHS. This group, with some 500 members in 1996-1997 provides wonderful support for the Indonesian National Museum, known to the local residents as Musium Gadjah. (Gadjah Mada was a famous general of the Majapahit Empire). There is also a Gadjah Mada University in Jogjakarta. All in all, I would say it was a very informative Symposium. I learned much new information and had fun renewing ties with old friends and acquaintances and making new ones too. I would recommend to our new President Dr. Pawlik and his Board that we print a brochure with some brief information about our Foundation so that it may be better known when our members visit destinations outside of the Philippines. I thank the Solheim Foundation for granting me the amount of U.S.$200 from its funds for my airfare to Singapore. I am donating a photocopy of the proceedings and Conference papers to the Solheim Foundation and U.P. Archaeological Studies Program Library. I thank as well the National University of Singapore for underwriting my hotel accommodations in Singapore from the 12th to 14th of March during the duration of the Symposium. I am putting together a few shards of ceramics found in the Philippines and will be most happy to augment the Ceramic Shard Study Library that the NUS is currently in process of establishing. I think close collaboration and exchange of information between the Solheim Foundation and the U.P. Archaeological Studies Program (ASP) and the Asia Research Institute (ARI) of the National University of Singapore (NUS) would be beneficial to both institutions. The ARI/NUS websites are:

************************** 22 March 2007 From: Alfred F. Pawlik Letter to the members of the Solheim Foundation Dear Members and Friends of the Solheim Foundation, Our founding president and dear friend, Cynthia O. Valdes has resigned from the Board of Directors. We, the members of the Board are respecting her decision which she explained to us in her message from March 06, 2007 (see below). However, we do this with great regret. Cynthia was from the very beginning the moving power and good spirit of the Solheim Foundation that kept it alive and made it an active part of Philippine Archaeology. As elected vice-president of the Solheim Foundation, the position as the new president of the Solheim Foundation was assigned to me by the Board of Directors. Knowing how difficult it will be to replace Cynthia Valdes, I accepted, and with the help and support of all members, I will do my best to serve the Foundation. Dear Cynthia, on behalf of the Solheim Foundation and its Board of Directors, I thank you for building up the Foundation, for your many contributions and for your great service not only to the Foundation but to the whole archaeological community. I wish you all the best and I hope you will continue to support the Foundation with your thoughts, your expertise and your friendship. Sincerely yours,
Alfred F. Pawlik
*********************** 6 March 2007 Letter to S.F. Board of Directors, Members W.G. Solheim II Foundation For Philippine Archaeology, Inc. U.P. ASP, Basement, Palma Hall, U.P. Diliman, Q.C. Dear Members, I have respectfully tendered my irrevocable letter of resignation as President of the W.G. Solheim II Foundation for Philippine Archaeology, Inc. for personal reasons to our Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Wilhelm G. Solheim. He has kindly accepted it. In order that the Foundation we have established in good faith and with every good intention can go on, and continue the good work I believe it/we have been doing, please be informed that as I resign as President, a duly elected Board of Directors is in place (Refer to the proceedings during the Annual General Meeting held at the premises of the Ortigas Foundation and Library). As you are well aware of, our Foundation is duly registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-stock, non-profit Foundation. The original of these documents, as far as I know, are at the Offices of the U.P. Archaeological Studies Program, at Palma Hall Basement, c/o U.P. ASP Secretary Ms. Aida Tiama It is provided in our Foundation’s Articles and By-laws (such provisions are embodied in the Corporation Code of the Republic of the Philippines) that in the event the President or any duly designated/elected officer of the Foundation resigns, the Board of Directors may name any of the existing Directors (a member in good standing) to take his/her place. Normally, it is the Vice-president that does so. However, I am told that the Vice-President Dr. Alfred Pawlik will be leaving the country soon. In the event that he does not accept the position and/or cannot perform his duties as the new President due to one reason or another, the Board of Directors may elect some one else from among its ranks to assume the Presidency. The Founding members of the W.G. Solheim II Foundation for Philippine Archaeology, Inc. have initially contributed funds in order that the Foundation may be established, duly registered and perform its activities (these purposes are in the Articles and By-laws, including Fund raising, etc.). Some of its original Incorporators/ Founding members have sadly passed away and are no longer with us. However, there is still a membership (with paid-up dues) and I believe it to be my duty and responsibility to inform them of my resignation as President of the W.G. Solheim II Foundation for Philippine Archaeology, Inc. and that I leave it with a structure (Board of Directors) in place in good order. The dollar accounts of the Foundation are deposited at the Philippine National Bank (PNB), the passbook is with Mr. Leee Neri, the Treasurer. There are also some pesos (as of the last Treasurer’s Report) and Mr. Neri informs me that these funds are in a Checking or Current Account. With new officers for the year 2007 duly elected by the Board, the Board Secretary Ms. Andrea Ragrario has been instructed to accomplish a “Secretary’s Certificate” in order to duly inform our bank , the PNB, of the new signatories for the year: President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Any check disbursement requires two signatures and any disbursement must be duly taken up and approved during a Board Meeting or an Executive Committee Meeting in which the President should be present. The current members of the Board of Directors have accomplished a General Information Sheet (GIS), a reportorial requirement of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) which I brought over during the last Regular Meeting. After each of the Directors had indicated their T.I.N. (Tax Information No., if I have not been misinformed), I handed this document over to Dr. Victor J. Paz. He wrote down the U.P. ASP telephone number 924 18 36 as his T.I.N. It might have been inadvertence on his part but since I am not sure it will be acceptable to the S.E.C., he could still correct it prior to submission of the SEC reportorial requirement. A clause in the General Information Sheet (GIS) states that failure to comply with the S.E.C. requirements for 5 years might dissolve our Foundation . For the exact wording, please refer to the GIS for non-stock corporations that I handed over to Dr. Paz.The Solheim Foundation has been using the premises of the U.P. Archaeological Studies Program for its meetings. The U.P. A.S. P. staff has also rendered assistance to the Solheim Foundation. We thank Dr. Victor J. Paz, Director of the U.P. Archaeological Studies Program for the hospitality, services, and other courtesies of this office. I thank you, the officers, directors, and members (local as well as overseas), most sincerely for the honor and privilege of having served the W. G. Solheim II Foundation for Philippine Archaeology, Inc. as President for 3 terms and 1 term as Vice-President. I would like to continue on as a Sustaining Member having duly paid my dues (Php500.) to the Treasurer Mr. Leee Neri during the Annual General Meeting held last year. I intend to serve as well as Ex-officio President in an advisory capacity, as provided for in our Articles and By-laws. Unless, for one reason or another, the operations of the Foundation is terminated in accordance with due process as provided for in its Articles and By-Laws. Yours truly, (signed) Cynthia Ongpin Valdes

*************** 5 December 2005 From: Cynthia O. Valdes, President Letter to Members
Dear Members, Another year has started and I find myself being President of the Foundation once again. Although, I am really quite busy with a number of other tasks, I felt a certain obligation to the Foundation members especially since, as Founding President, I had personally approached a number of them for funds to get the Foundation started. Our Treasurer during our organizational period, Mrs. Dolorlina Solheim kept good records of these transactions that should be on file at the ASP. One of these generous donors, the former Don Enrique Zobel who contributed Php 50,000 has unfortunately passed away. Another one of our Founding members, Johnny Wilson, is also no longer with us, having also passed away a couple of years ago. When we accepted with deep regret the resignation of Mrs Dolorlina Solheim as Treasurer, Ms. Eliza Valtos took over as Treasurer. Eventually, she also resigned due to lack of time. Mr. Danny Galang, one of our Founding Members, took over the job. However, he left for the United States sometime ago. I am not certain if he is now back in the Philippines since I have not seen him at the U.P. Archaeological Studies Program located at the Basement of Palma Hall in U.P. Diliman. For the AGM, the Asst. Treasurer, Mr. Leee Neri was tasked instead to prepare our end of the year “Treasurer’s Report” which was overseen, noted, and signed by the outgoing president for 2004-2005 Dr. Victor Paz and distributed to the members present during the AGM held 30th Sept. We did not go through the procedure of having the Report audited by a Certified Public Accountant since there were only 2 or 3 transactions during the year and most of the funds were intact. Mr. Neri has kindly accepted the position of Treasurer this year. He collected the annual dues during the Annual General Meeting held on the 30th of September 2005 upon my instructions. Although I reviewed the Articles and By-Laws of the Foundation, prior to the AGM, I failed to review the files regarding the annual dues. The Treasurer was also not around to consult. I made the mistake of telling Leee to collect Php1,000 from the members present when the amount should have been just Php 250 if they were Regular members, Php 500 if they had been Sustaining members, and Php100 for Associate (student) members (no fees were actually collected from the students during the AGM). We did distribute a Membership List but when I reviewed it a few days before the actual day of the AGM, I found out it was not quite updated and several names were not on the list. We tried to fix it up but it was too late to re-type and re-do everything with the AGM taking place in 2 days time and the ASP Secretary was only doing us a favor. I’m afraid that during his tenure as President, Dr. Victor Paz was quite preoccupied with running the ASP as Director, as well as producing a book, “Southeast Asian Archaeology”, a Festschrift for Dr. W. G. Solheim, which should really be counted as one of his accomplishments as President of the Foundation. I was also unable to assist him as Vice-President. In short, the Foundation was sorely neglected. We did produce 1 Bulletin done by Aya Ragrario that Dr. Alfred Pawlik has posted in the website. Dr. Pawlik himself has posted one of his own articles in the website and as he suggested, we informed the students at the ASP and any other member that they were welcome to contribute articles which will be subject to review by Dr. Pawlik as Web Editor. About other plans, we showed the book “Art and People of the Philippines” to a couple of printers hoping to reproduce it. Dr. Solheim, went to a great deal of trouble contacting the authors to inquire about their individual copyright. Several of them actually agreed to waive their rights. It did not materialize because the printers said it would involve a great deal of work as well as cost to re-print the book. It would also have entailed revising, re-editing, and re-typing the various manuscripts, a job for which we did not have the necessary resources. Thank you for your patience in reading my lengthy explanations. I will instruct our Treasurer Mr. Neri to prepare the necessary refunds, that is, after the Membership List has been duly organized. You may also assist us by calling up Leee Neri or Aida Tiama at the U.P. ASP Tel. No. 924 18 36 to let us know the type of membership you choose. Or, you may donate to the Foundation the Php 1,000 you already paid. It will be greatly appreciated and we hope to have more activities this year. Please consult our Web Page for “How to Join” (we also posted a sign-up sheet there). Please accept our apologies for the mistakes and we earnestly hope to do better this year. In due time, we will also correct other errors that have found their way into the Web Site in spite of the diligent efforts of Dr. Pawlik. Thank you. Yours sincerely, Cynthia O.

*********** 16 November 2004 From: Alfred F. Pawlik, Web Editor Greetings from ice-cold Germany! I am still alive although not very pleased to experience now my first winter season in Germany after 6 years. We have already below 0°C at my place and the first snowfall was last weekend. And this is supposed to be the warmest region in whole Germany! However, and instead of giving you a depressing weather report from a place too far away, I would like to announce that the latest Quarterly Bulletins have been uploaded. In case you haven't received them already via email, you can open and download or print the Volumes II, No. 2 and No. 3. Ms. Aya Ragragio has done a great job in giving our Bulletin a new layout. To keep this new design for the online versions, I just uploaded them as Acrobat files. They can be opened with your internet browser and will appear in a separate window. Use the links on the left. wishes and Merry Christmas, ****************************** 18 March 2004 From: Cynthia O. Valdes, President President’s ReportSometime in May of 2003, a group of Bill Solheim’s closest friends, through the initiative of Gregorio (Yoyong) Magdaraog of the SEAICE Foundation (a non-government organization with environmental concerns) and Bill’s wife, Nene, thought of forming a Foundation in his name. Putting their heads together, they came up with a set of goals for the organization, looked for the required number of Incorporators and registered this through the Express Lane at the Securities and Exchange Commission. Together with the other current officers of the Foundation, I became President during an organizational meeting held on the 23 of July 2003. In order to lay a sound foundation and strengthen the structure of the organization, I immediately instituted the process of amending the Articles and By-laws in order to place the safeguards that will ensure the integrity, well-being and continuity of the organization that we hope will out last and out live all of us now present. With every member of the Board participating, we put into place a good framework and fleshed out more details. We are still in the process of registering with the Bureau of Internal Revenue. It takes time to do these things as our government institutions carefully scrutinize Foundations to ascertain that these are legitimate and not just some “dummy organization” set up as a tax shelter. I must reassure our membership that from the time the guidelines were put into place, we have abided by them and played “the game” according to the rules, so to speak. It has been a mere eight months since I have held office as President. I must admit I was “anointed” by the Chairman, Dr. Solheim, more than actually “elected” into office by my colleagues as the best “woman” for the job. Nevertheless, I tried to do my job as best I could, calling a Regular Monthly Meeting every quarter to conduct the business at hand. When there was an urgent matter that needed attention, I called a Special Meeting. Indeed, I hope it cannot be said that I have been lackadaisical about my duties. I really can’t understand why they are so soon pushing me out of office. But perhaps it is time. There is nothing more boring than Presidents who over stay at the job. I believe that while you’re at it, give it your best shot as there are no second chances. Then, when it is time, pass the baton to the next likely fellow who comes into view. Victor Paz, when he appears at my birthday party in short pants, reminds me very much of my own grandchildren. But of course he is more than that. With a Ph.D. (something that I, myself cannot claim to be) and from Cambridge University, no less, he is infinitely more serious than he pretends not to be. As a matter of fact, in the all too brief time that I have worked (and played) with him, I have found him to be an “elegant fellow”. Not really because he is always spouting lines from Camelot, but more likely because he comes from a roster of respected academicians in his matrilineal line. Therefore, I have no doubt that with my continued guidance, he can take over the reins of the Foundation and carry on the job. Mabuhay! Cynthia O. Valdes 18 March 2004
************************************* 8 March 2004 Memo: To our Overseas Members From: Cynthia O. Valdes, President Greetings!
I am happy to report that our Foundation is fast getting organized. The structure is in place, our finances are in stable condition (we hardly spend) and our membership is growing (not by leaps and bounds, but there is definitely interest out there). We are committed and willing and each person in the Board has been doing his/her share of work. Do keep track of our activities through our Website.
As stipulated in our By-laws, March is the month of our Annual General Meeting (AGM). There will be an Election of 9 Directors to the Board. Elected Directors will then proceed to elect the officers of the Foundation from amongst themselves.
Once every year, we will communicate with you by electronic as well as by regular mail. Hopefully, you will continue to support the activities of the Foundation through Annual Dues in any amount you may be happy to donate. We are all in this together and we do hope that the Foundation has been of some help to you as well. Your suggestions and comments are welcome. Do communicate with us. If you happen to be in town, call us. And do invite your friends to join in!
Our Membership Data Form is in the JOIN US link in the website. Please help us update our files. Fill up the form and fax it to the U.P. Archaeological Studies Program address together with your crossed check and send to:
